Overview
The CODA System Optimiser Plugin helps you export Vectorworks projects into a
clean, structured format for CODA System Optimiser. It streamlines geometry,
materials, and metadata so you can move faster from planning to execution.
Designed for production workflows: plan faster, export cleaner, and reduce
manual corrections after import.
Highlights
- Optimized export pipeline for reliable results
- Consistent metadata mapping for downstream tools
- Designed for real-world project workflows
Typical use cases: venues, stages, audience areas, truss structures, and speaker layouts.
Features
- Fast, reliable export from Vectorworks to CODA System Optimiser
- Consistent object tagging for audience, scenery, truss, and speakers
- Optimized geometry and metadata for clean imports
- Designed for real-world production workflows
FAQ
Do I need a license?
Yes. A serial number is required to activate the plugin.
What format does the export create?
The exporter generates a .cvlf file (and optional .cvsf for speakers).
Why is my geometry not visible?
System Optimiser only shows geometry exported as 3D polygons.
Which Vectorworks versions are supported?
The plugin is designed for current Vectorworks versions; older versions may work but are not guaranteed.
Can I use the plugin offline?
Yes, after activation the license supports an offline grace period.
What if I change my computer?
If your hardware changes, request a reset by contacting support.
How do I get a license key?
Use the “Request Serial Number” button and you will receive a key by email.
Important: 3D Polygons Are Required
System Optimiser only shows geometry that is exported as 3D polygons.
Objects will not appear if they contain only 2D geometry or no usable 3D faces.
- Objects must be 3D polygons, or
- Convert them to 3D polygons before export.
If something is missing in System Optimiser, this is almost always the reason.
Basic Workflow
- Prepare objects: only 3D polygons are exported.
- Tagging (CODA_SO): apply tags for audience, scenery, truss, speaker.
- Run export: results are .cvlf (layer) and optional .cvsf (speaker sources).
- Import into System Optimiser and verify layer visibility.
Visibility Tips
- Truss is exported as simplified geometry.
- Curtains (Molton): reliable only with 3D polygon geometry.
- Speakers: markers appear in layer "Speaker - Imported".
Troubleshooting
- Make sure the object is a 3D polygon.
- Check the CODA_SO tag.
- Enable the layer in System Optimiser.
- Review the export log (debug file).
Quick Summary
No 3D polygon means no visible geometry in System Optimiser.
